Assignment for Tuesday, Nov. 14

Here's a sing-along version of the Pina Colada song, for the purposes of study and roommate-annoyance:  HERE.

We should think more about how and why our entertainment media choices matter.  It is not at all an easy thing to ponder.  Even Plato, two thousand years ago, was trying hard to figure it out.

Now then, I find that we actually have two more books on our shelf.  Odds are good that we won't finish them both--I apologize for that.  But at the same time, our discussions have been well paced, and I don't want to rush them.

Let's look next in the book called _Feminism/Postmodernism_.

Read 19-62.  This is slow, dense stuff.  We can do it.  Keep Google and Wikipedia close.  Take careful notes.  Start really soon.

So many thoughts.  I keep thinking about "exclusions," and the historical movement of some of them from "obviously necessary" to "obviously unjust." I am also thinking about false consciousness, which I did not explain well.  (But I think that there are accessible analogues.) We will talk more about these things. I'm thinking about a syllabus.  Would you believe that it has been done, all this time?  It has.  I'm just insecure about it. For Monday, 201-244 in Feminism in Our Time.   Good, close reading, so we could have a discussion as good as Thursday's.
